Dental Bonding

Do you have a minor cosmetic issue with your teeth you wish you could have repaired? Have you always thought that cosmetic dentistry was out of your reach?

Minor aesthetic flaws can sometimes be corrected using an affordable, non-invasive procedure called dental bonding. Dental bonding is perfect for patients who want to avoid dramatic procedures but have some small concerns about the appearance of their teeth.

What Aesthetic Problems Can You Correct with Dental Bonding?

  • Gaps between teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Oddly shaped teeth
  • Short or eroded teeth
  • Dark silver fillings
  • Abfractions (exposed roots from gum recession)
  • Dark areas on teeth and other discolorations

How Does Cosmetic Dental Bonding Work?

Cosmetic dental bonding is pretty simple, but if your teeth are yellow or stained, you may consider whitening your teeth before dental bonding treatments since the composite material cannot be bleached. We will customize the shade of the composite to match your tooth color so that the bonding repair will blend seamlessly and be virtually undetectable.

First, we etch or roughen the surface of your tooth. We then apply a conditioning agent to prepare your tooth and bond to the composite material. Next, we apply the composite material in several layers and harden it with a special curing light.

Once the final layer is applied, we polish and smooth the composite, so it blends perfectly with your natural tooth.

Benefits of Cosmetic Dental Bonding

One advantage of cosmetic bonding is that your dentist does minimal preparation of the tooth, meaning your tooth is left intact, and we add the composite material as needed. Because bonding is non-invasive, you should be quite comfortable during your procedure.

Cosmetic bonding is a versatile method to improve the aesthetics of your teeth. We can help you determine whether dental bonding will be right for your unique needs.
